Physical Capacity Profile Testing

Developed in Salina, the patented Physical Capacity Profile testing system offers a completely objective and comprehensive evaluation of the applicant's capacity to perform the specific job functions based on the Department of Labor rating system.  The testing profile includes upper and lower extremity strength, active lumbar range of motion, lower extremity mobility, maximum lifting capability, safe lifting technique, trunk strength, fitness and spirometry.  Our staff will work with the City to review all relevant job descriptions to ensure that the appropriate Department of Labor rating is assigned to each job.  All of the Physical Capacity Profile tests at New Medical are performed by licensed physical therapists.  While we aren't required to use these professionals, their knowledge of physical functioning and treatment substantially enhances the testing process.

While traditional physical examinations can be legally disputed because the determinations are subjective, the Physical Capacity Profile system provides an objective baseline addressing pre-existing impairments that is admissible in court.  The test results provide a superior measure of the applicant's ability to physically meet the job requirements and can reduce or eliminate potential workers comp. settlements by identifying pre-existing impairments.  On average, employers already using the system have experienced ten to thirty percent decreases in workers comp. premiums and thirty percent decreases in workers comp. injury rates.  In fact, one dollar spent on testing is returning six to eight dollars in direct medical cost savings to employers!

Because the Physical Capacity Profile testing system produces a superior baseline physical evalutaion based on the Department of Labor rating system and the results are legally admissible, we strongly recommend that it be used for the Physical Agility Tests and Pre-Placement Screens described in the Request for Proposal.  The system is ADA and HIPAA compliant and has successfully undergone EEOC audits making it ideal for the City of Wichita.  Detailed information about the system including a sample report is provide in the reference section of this proposal and New Medical Health Care will gladly provide free demonstration tests to the City to evaluate the system.
